Hemp Seed Oil in Cosmetics

In addition to its outstanding composition, hemp seed oil’s unique texture imparts excellent skin feel. It is non-greasy, has high fluidity and lubricity and is absorbed quickly and efficiently in the skin. In fact, hemp seed oil is considered the “driest” vegetable oil.

Hemp seed oil's unique texture and activity on the skin (including the scalp) targets it toward many beneficial uses in cosmetic products. It is recommended in skin care formulas (up to 10%) that protect or provide anti-aging benefits, as well as dry-, mature- and sensitive skin products. It can be used at 3% in hand, foot or body creams. It can be used at 10% levels in after-sun products as well as lipsticks, lip balms and nail treatments. Hemp seed oil can also be used (3%) in cosmetic powders, liquid makeup and glossy hair conditioners that strengthen or prevent splitting and thinning. It is recommended for use (up to 10% for atopic eczema, acne and psoriasis treatment) and may be used at full strength for aromatherapy purposes and in body and massage oils.

All About Hemp

plants Industrial hemp seed is extremely nutritious, perhaps one of the top plants in terms of meeting human (and animal) nutrition. Hemp based products contain significant amounts of properly balanced essential fatty acids, both Omega-3 and Omega-6 oils. These essential fatty acids cannot be synthesized by the body – they must come from dietary sources. Studies have shown benefits for cardio-vascular health with a proper balance of these EFA’s. Resource: http://www.drbronner.com/pdf/hempnutrition.pdf plus NIH studies: http://ods.od.nih.gov/news/conferences/w6w3_abstracts.html.

Hemp also contains all the amino acids, including all the essential amino acids, which are the building blocks of protein. These essential amino acids, like the EFA’s cannot be synthesized - they MUST come from dietary sources. Key minerals, vitamins and enzymes are also present. Hemp is considered a complete food source – one could live off a diet of just natural hemp seed for a long time http://www.drbronner.com/pdf/hempnutrition.pdf .

Beyond the amazing nutritional benefits, certain types of hemp contain significant quantities of cannabidiol (CBD). One cannabinoid in particular has received significant attention recently: Cannabidiol (CBD) – to the point where the US Government actually holds a patent on the therapeutic usage of CBD. US Patent # 6,630,507.

Growing Hemp

Hemp TruckDid you know that one acre of hemp sequesters 2 tons of carbon from our atmosphere? So says US Hemp Oil’s Christopher J Boucher. Chris was the first American to plant a hemp crop in over 50 years back in 1994 at the USDA Research Station at Imperial Valley California. Chris has helped our developmental team source and produce a CBD-rich cultivar of hemp seed and stalk.

This CBD material is now available in nutritional products. Cannabidiol, or CBD can hemp promote and support the dietary and nutritional health of aging bodies.
